The Scourge of the decade of 2000!

Proverbs 2 :
16. Only wisdom from the Lord can save a man from the flattery of prostitutes;
these girls have abandoned their husbands and flouted the laws of God.
18. Their houses lie along the road to death and hell.
19. The men who enter them are doomed.
None of these men will ever be the same again.
Living Bible

Though the writer of the book of Proverbs lived more than 2000 years ago, he seems to have had the wisdom to address a very modern problem:
Internet Pornography!

Several kinds of electronic communication have become problematic.
Here are just a few examples:
Taking part in sexually arousing conversations by phone or internet
Reading sexually arousing material via email
Viewing sexually arousing images and video-clips on television, cell phone and on the internet
have become the scourge of this decade!

Receiving flattery from these lawless people - whether women or men - has become a problem for many men and women in this season of time.
It seems to hold on to a person in an addictive grip, almost overnight!

But we need to know that what the writer of Proverbs gives as a result of this addiction is true:
their houses - that is, the TV channel or their web sites - do lie along the road to death and hell!
and the people who become their dupes will never be the same again!

How very sad!

And the sadness is that of the spouses, children and employers of these dupes who get into this terrible visual addiction.

Marriages, children and earning ability are ruined, because the addict is changed forever by giving in to this addiction.

These addicts - like all others - are in denial about their addiction:
I'm not being unfaithful to you!
I'm not neglecting the diligent parenting of my children!
I'm not doing anything like that while I should be working!

But we must remember that lying and deception is a 2-way street:
eventually we believe the lies we tell.

That's a living hell!

Get help for this addiction - FAST!

Prayer:
Father, we bow humbly before You today and confess that we are pornography addicts.
Help us not just to admit this, but to get help to get rid of this addiction out of our life, so that we can once more be a blessing to spouse, children and employer.
Show us where to get help, and give us the good sense to take the help offered, especially when it takes us out of this destructive comfort zone,
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
who Himself is the truth that sets us free,
Amen.
